The Problem With Sound and our Game

So for some reason we can't seem to get the sound to work on our game.  Plus finding sound that works for our game is very difficult because of the style game we are making. Eventually we will find some sounds that will fit in our game and will work but until then I hate sound.

Finishing Up

For the most part Im done with the game. I still have to fix one small thing on our game and I cant seem to figure out what is making Agent 006 fall through the floor.  It have to be something simple that I am over looking because I've retyped the code so many times its not even funny anymore.

Personal Accountability is when someone can be accountable for their actions. If someone can be dependable and they always do their work, they are always on time, and then they are accountable. I’ve managed to stay accountable in my game design class because I’m always in class and I try to keep the team page up to date, I try to stay with the lessons, and in case we don’t finish something in class I’ll go home and work on it so that we will be able to get it done on time and have a really good game at the end. In class I try to help out everyone that I can. For example if Dillon or Sean need help with some of their coding I try to help them out as much as I can so that their game is how they want it. I think by helping Sean and Dillon out it helps Mrs. White out at the same time because this allows her to help another team or student in the class who is having a problem with their game. Sadly during the class I have let one of my class mates down and I didn’t much like it. Sometimes I can’t figure out the coding for Sean and Dillon’s game because I don’t understand it. They’ve had to make some changes to their game because they couldn’t figure out the code to make it work.

In game design you have to be dependable, which means you have to be responsible for your work. If you’re not responsible for your work then how is your team mate going to count on you. This being said you must be able to help each other out as well as doing your own work. In game design there are days in which you have to do work by yourself because your team mate is working on another part of the game. If you do draw or make something work in Flash and you lose it, your held responsible for it because you were in charge of that specific thing. This year I’ve tried to be really responsible when it comes to uploading work, or helping make the game itself work. Not to mention keeping all the files together so that we know where they are at any given moment. I was responsible for making the slope levels (which had too much coding and instances names), making some of the amazing scenes that are in our game, and the team page. This year I did more work in one week then I did in a month last year, and it paid off. Now I am able to look at our game and feel accomplished at what we have done and be happy with our final game.

There is a lot of respect involved with our game design class. We all respect each other because we know how hard it is to get something to work in our games. The smallest things in our game are probably the hardest to fix and we all understand that. That’s one example of respect because we don’t make fun of each other’s games; we realize how hard the class is with the drawing, coding, and Flash itself. Being a member of the Wolf Warlock, Jacob and I understand what each other is going through in our game. If we have a problem we turn to on another to figure it out and we know the class is hard. Even though we are on the same team and we are working on the same game we have different ideas on how it should work, we just talk about it and hear the other opinion because we respect each other and who knows one of us may have a better idea for the game then what we originally intended. I think everyone in our game design class respects Mrs. White because she tries to help us out as much as she can. There is some things that she is still trying to learn because Flash is new to her as well. Both ways there is mutual respect for everyone and everything we do in the class, and it is greatly appreciated.

After typing about accountability, responsibility, and respect, I’d say that those are some very important lessons someone would learn if they took the game design class. I’m not saying that some people lack those three key life lessons but it is important that everyone knows them, and working in this class really helps further these lessons. After making The Adventures of Henry the Hedgehog and Finding Mr. X, I’ve seen that it has raised my confidence. I’ve learned a new skills that I will need in today’s society to be successful. Making two games and seeing them start to finish is very satisfying and it raises ones confidence because it lets them know that they are capable of doing something if they put their mind to it and apply themselves.

In Game Design if you can’t get along with someone you may have a problem. Game design teaches you how to work in a team and how to accomplish your goals with that team. Game design also gives you the tools that you need to succeed in today’s society because of all the advantages in technology today. I’ve enjoyed the class the past two years and I hope to be in it again.

Final Game Presentation

Well we are finally done with the game for the most part.  We still have to go through our game and fix a small bug that is appearing on our final level. We should be able to fix our game very soon and then everyone will be able to play through the game with no problem and be able to learn about perfect squares, slope, prime and composite numbers.  I'm very proud of our game and I think it is better then the game we made last year.

All Most Done

This is the last full week that we have to finish our game and I personally am not ready.  There is so much that we have to do before we are done and I don't know if I will have enough time to get everything done in time.  Ill just have to go home and work on it sometime over the weekend so that I can get everything to where we need it.  Mainly we have to make some more scene where everyone is talking to make the game a little better, and then we have to throw in a new level that Jacob started this week because he found some really cool code that was easy to master.  I think we have to make some new math equations to the slope levels because some of them may be incorrect and we can't have that.
